Pep Guardiola provides update on injured Man City pair and makes Erling Haaland prediction

City injury update

Nathan Ake could return to the Manchester City squad to face West Ham on Wednesday, but the Blues are still sweating over the fitness of Kevin De Bruyne. Ake trained with the rest of the squad on Monday and is set for another session on Tuesday afternoon, but while De Bruyne is moving more freely he hasn't yet returned to training.

City train at 4pm on Tuesday for the final time before facing West Ham and De Bruyne will need to come through that session to stand a chance of being involved.

The Belgian was absent from the City squad for the win at Fulham on Sunday having felt some discomfort during the midweek success against Arsenal.

Ake hasn't played since picking up a hamstring injury in the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich, but his return to training this week puts him in the frame for being back in action against the Hammers.

Haaland prediction

Pep Guardiola has backed Erling Haaland to score "a lot more goals" in Manchester City's six remaining Premier League fixtures as he chases down a place in the record books.

Haaland is level with Andy Cole and Alan Shearer on 34 goals in the Premier League and needs just one more to set a new landmark in that competition. He has 50 in all competitions, 13 short of the goalscoring record set by Dixie Dean in 1927/28.

The Norwegian could have 10 games left in all competitions to match that total, if City reach the Champions League final, and while Guardiola has been keen to praise the framework of his side in delivering chances to Haaland, he knows those records are good news for the
