Pep Guardiola may have to break unexpected Erling Haaland streak at Man City

Erling Haaland has obviously excelled this season. A second Player of the Month award and the Football Writers' annual prize handed to him this week are the latest recognition for an outstanding first year in English football that has already brought 51 goals.

On the one hand, it is even more incredible that Haaland has hit those numbers given Pep Guardiola has managed his fitness by often withdrawing him in matches to keep him fresh for the next challenge. On the other, it seems remarkable that he hasn't done more of that lately.

Before City faced Arsenal at home, the biggest consecutive streak of 90 minutes for Haaland was three. But he has now played every minute of the last five games in all competitions, including matches such as Leeds where many others were rested City had control of the scoreboard.
