Man City boss Pep Guardiola makes Manchester United FA Cup admission ahead of Brentford fixture

Manchester City eyes are already wandering towards the FA Cup and Champions League finals, but Pep Guardiola has urged his side to concentrate on beating Brentford on Sunday.

City wrapped up the Premier League title three games ago, and have rotated heavily against Chelsea and Brighton in the two following games. With injuries and fitness concerns mounting, Guardiola will give his players and staff two days off after the trip to Brentford, before attention will turn to the FA Cup final against Manchester United and the Champions League final against Inter Milan.

While Guardiola admits he is also thinking about how to beat United at Wembley next weekend, he also said that beating Brentford will be 'proof' of how keeping up momentum this weekend will be crucial to their treble chances. He also pointed to Brentford's strengths, noting that they will provide similar tests to what is needed from his players in the two upcoming finals.

Guardiola didn't deny that the United and Inter finals are more important than Brentford, but he insisted that taking Brentford seriously will maintain consistency
