Pep Guardiola knows Ange Postecoglou's feelings as Man City close in on Kyogo Furuhashi

Ange Postecoglou has already given multiple reasons why Kyogo Furuhashi should be on Manchester City's radar.

The Japanese forward has caught the eye of Pep Guardiola after the champions allowed Julian Alvarez to join Atletico Madrid in an £80million-plus deal, leaving them short on strikers. With Celtic reportedly putting a £20million price tag on the 29-year-old, who has scored an impressive 73 goals in 135 appearances since arriving in Glasgow in 2021, it seems the Hoops have given City plenty of reasons to splash the cash.

The interest in Kyogo is backed up by previous praise from current Tottenham boss Postecoglou, the man responsible for signing him during his time in charge of the Hoops. The Australian offered a glowing testimonial on Kyogo's qualities following an exceptional display in an Old Firm match in April 2023 when he netted a brace in a 3-2 Celtic victory.

Postecoglou said at the time: "I've said it a few times, from the moment this guy arrived, he's been outstanding. He gives everything in every game he plays, he's a threat. If he doesn't score a goal he works so hard for the team. He delivers in the big games.

"There's not much of him out there and he's up against big strong defenders who get very physical with him at times. But make no mistake, he's a winner. I've seen it first-hand. He wants that responsibility to rise to the occasion. He wants to be the person who delivers and he did it again today.
