Jack Grealish's true reaction to Man City substitution as Pep Guardiola sets record straight

Erling Haaland wrestled the headlines from anyone else thinking of taking the back pages as Manchester City beat West Ham on Saturday.

A second hat-trick of the season - his 11th at City - and 97th goal overall continued a fine start to the season that Pep Guardiola says is because he is completely injury free for the first time in more than a year. A dangerous thought for any opposition side.

Behind Haaland, though, were plenty of impressive performances. From Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Rico Lewis to name a few. As City marched into the international break top of the table, they will be mightily pleased with where they find themselves, especially after Guardiola said the first few games would be difficult with so many players returning late in the summer.

Grealish unhappy at substitution

Jack Grealish was unlucky not to score or assist in a frantic first half, linking well with Kevin De Bruyne on the left. At times, Grealish swapped positions with De Bruyne, coming inside as a left-sided number 10 with De Bruyne hugging the touchline. With De Bruyne earning praise for his all-action performance, it wouldn't have been possible without Grealish.

This was his first start of the season after an ill-timed injury before the Community Shield. But Savinho's own injury offered the chance to reclaim his spot and he did well. Given his relative lack of game time, it was perhaps not a surprise to see him
