Pep Guardiola comment shows Man City are doing exactly what Premier League don't want them to
Manchester City's fourth Premier League title in a row saw them move ahead of Everton as the fourth most successful club of all time when it comes to English titles with ten. Only Manchester United have won more since 1992.
"For fans from Liverpool, from Shankley, Paisley, the players like Ian Rush and Graeme Souness. Liverpool fans always will be the best," said Pep Guardiola, opening his post-match press conference with a history lesson.
"Sir Alex Ferguson, the incredible period with Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Scholes, Giggs, Yorke, Carrick and all these players. For them, [United] will be the best team. But I'm sure for our fans we are the best. The feelings are the feelings you support the team. In terms of numbers nobody has been better than us."

That final line - nobody has been better - is the crucial one. Of course City can't match the numbers of the great Liverpool and United sides, not yet anyway. They are now just three titles off Arsenal's tally of 13.
They almost certainly won't break any all-time title records under Guardiola. He has laughed off the prospect of a multi-decade stay like Sir Alex Ferguson at United, and told Match of the Day on Sunday: "It's a mountain [six titles in seven years] that I don't want to climb again." He added: "I want to continue next season but the reality is I'm closer to saying bye-bye than staying for another seven years.
"Next season we talk and we decide what is best for everyone. Right now I'm exhausted and tired, but I'm happy, I'm fine." Such comments
