"People I've spoken to" - Sky Sports reporter drops intriguing Tottenham claim involving Bastoni

Tottenham‘s move for Alessandro Bastoni hasn’t gone away because Inter Milan would be prepared to sell if the player was keen on leaving, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The £54m-rated Italy international has emerged as Spurs’ number one centre-back target this summer, but their attempts to bring him to the Premier League have stalled in recent weeks.

Prior to the transfer window opening, The Athletic revealed that Tottenham had drawn up a four-man shortlist of left centre-back targets, with the 23-year-old quickly moving to the top of that list.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs held talks with Inter over the defender’s services while he was away on international duty.

Bastoni responded to reports by saying that he was ‘relaxed’ and ‘hadn’t been told anything by the club’.

It was approaching a make-or-break moment for both Bastoni and Tottenham, with the Italian either likely to put an end to talks or potentially open the door to a move away from his boyhood club.

In fact, the same day Sky Sports reported the talks, Bastoni’s agent Tullio Tinti, completely ended the debate by confirming that he will not be leaving Inter.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Tottenham have offered the money, what can you do, he is young and sometimes we forget moving country can be tough and he seems happy.

“Inter seem quite successful at the moment. I think it probably hasn’t completely gone away because people I’ve spoken to have said that Inter would do the deal if the player was keen. They have to get someone out of the door and Tottenham were prepared to meet their valuation.”
