Peaky Blinders filming location goes up in flames

A huge blaze has broken out at a complex in Yorkshire which was used as a filming location for BBC's Peaky Blinders.

Dalton Mill in Keighley, Bradford has gone up in flames, with fire crews called just after 12 noon on Thursday (3 March). More than 100 firefighters have been seen tackling the blaze.

Crews from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and neighbouring areas have been dispatched, supported by Yorkshire Ambulance Service's Hazardous Area Response Team, reports Yorkshire Live.

The fire service said in a tweet: "100% of building involved in fire. Hose reel jets & aerial ladder platform in use. There is a lot of smoke in the area please keep doors/windows closed. Please avoid travelling through the area."

Meanwhile Bradford Council has opened a leisure centre in Keighley for residents to shelter at.

Dalton Mill's "timewarp" interior has made it an ideal filming location for period TV and films. The listed mill has not only been used in Peaky Blinders, but as a set for The Great Train Robbery and Downton Abbey, as well as the 2016 feature film The Limehouse Golem, starring Bill Nighy.
