Gemma Arterton Disney+ show Culprits is filming shoot outs and car chases in Manchester
Manchester is providing the backdrop for new Disney+ series Culprits, which is set to star Gemma Arterton, with filming going on across various sets in the city. A shoot-out was filmed on Lever Street in the Northern Quarter yesterday, with the roads around being blocked off.
And today, a getaway scene is being filmed on Dickinson Street, just off Portland Street. Production has blocked off the surrounding roads, with the scene featuring a blue getaway car, with a drone camera filming from above.
A security guard at the site of the Dickinson Street set also confirmed that they’d been filming ‘a shoot-out’ in the Northern Quarter yesterday. Passersby noted the closed roads around Dale Street and Lever Street, with others noting the sound of gun shots.

Said Twitter user @rustyspanner: “There’s me minding my own business walking by getting bread and milk and I walked past a shoot out scene down one of the side streets it scared the life out of me.”
The show is a ‘dark and funny heist’ series, with Bond star Arterton starring alongside Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Niamh Algar, Ned Dennehy and stand up icon Eddie Izzard.
The show will run over eight episodes, and will follow a crew of criminals in the aftermath of a heist, as each of them is picked off one-by-one by a killer. It’s been written and directed by J Blakeson, the Harrogate-born writer and filmmaker behind The Disappearance of Alice Creed and 2020 feature thriller I Care A Lot.
Blakeson also directed the BBC series Gunpowder in 2017, about the gunpowder plot and starring the likes of Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington, Liv Tyler and Mark Gatiss. Principal
