Paulo Bernardo sidesteps Celtic question after Portugal duty as he shows Brendan Rodgers his success cravings
Brendan Rodgers knows that with Celtic comes the demand for bigger and better - and Paulo Bernardo has shown him exactly that on international duty.
The Benfica midfielder has signed a season-long loan deal with the Premiership champions and got some minutes in the tank for his nation's U21 side against Andorra ahead of a potential Parkhead bow against Dundee next weekend. Bernardo started the 3-0 win and met the press after the match, as he kept his lens focused on Portugal.
But it wasn't all pats in the back and congratulations from the 21-year-old. As an experienced member of the youth squad, he is demanding more from his teammates even after a comfortable stroll. When asked about his new club and national team's performance, Bernardo told reporters: "I'm in the selection, the questions have to be from the selection. We are Portugal and we always want more. We won 3-0.
"It was a comfortable result, but we can do better. We will try to do better in the next game.”
