The 5 point Celtic checklist Joe Hart STILL clears as critics line up for goalkeeper after double horror shows

Bullish Artur Boruc reckons Joe Hart is still the perfect number one for Celtic despite a nightmare week for the goalkeeper.

The former England international has faced mounting criticism for his performances between the sticks for the Scottish Premiership champions - with his display in the Champions League opener against Feyenoord being subject to furious verdicts from a host of Celtic legends. The 36-year-old was at fault for allowing Calvin Stengs long-range free-kick to nestle in the net - but would save a penalty in the second half.

However the pressure has ramped up on the goalkeeper after he received a red card in the victory over Livingston to round off a calamitous spell for the veteran. But former Hoops number one has leapt to the defence of Hart as he listed the key qualities he possess that will help Celtic in the upcoming campaign. Defiant Boruc told the Sunday Post: "Joe Hart is a top-class keeper.

"He has played at the highest level for many years in England and for his country and knows what it takes. I feel he is composed, makes big saves and is a great communicator. He is also a top professional to have in the dressing room and around the football club.”

The Poland cap also backed Brendan Rodgers to kickstart Celtic's Euro hopes with some big results in Glasgow's east end. Boruc went on: "Never rule out the team from winning at home. The games against Lazio, Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord will be difficult, but not impossible.

"Remember, the team has an excellent manager in Brendan Rodgers. He knows football inside out and knows what’s required at Celtic. There are also many quality players in the team. It’s within Celtic’s capabilities to get a few positive results.”
