Pauli Pauli: York forward receives second ban of the season

The RFL’s match review panel have handed a two-match ban to York forward Pauli Pauli, which is his second suspension of the season.

The match review panel have given the 27-year-old a two-match penalty notice for a Grade B dangerous contact in their 30-18 win at Barrow in Monday night Rugby League.

Pauli will be available to play in York’s next match against Bradford but will miss the following games against Halifax and Sheffield.

Pauli’s first ban came in February after York’s win over Batley in the Championship. He was charged for two separate incidents – a high tackle and a dangerous contact – which resulted in a three-match suspension.

Pauli joined the Knights ahead of this season upon the expiry of his contract with Salford. He played for the Combined Nations All Stars in their win over England last June.

Elsewhere, the disciplinary panel gave Bradford prop Ben Evans a one-match suspension for a Grade B dangerous throw in their 34-22 win over Whitehaven.

Bradford hooker Thomas Doyle has also been handed a one-match penalty notice for a Grade B dangerous throw.

In League 1, Hunslet’s Ethan O’Hanlon will miss one game after being charged with a Grade B dangerous contact.

There are no Championship games this weekend due to the 1895 Cup semi-finals taking place. Leigh face Sheffield and Featherstone take on Barrow. The four are seeking to reach the final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on May 28.
