Paul Scholes names his two concerns over Antony potentially joining Manchester United

Paul Scholes believes it is a no brainer that Antony would want to join Manchester United from Ajax.

The Brazilian winger slammed his current club on Friday in an interview with Fabrizio Romano after they rejected a bid from United for his services. He claims that Ajax were made aware that he wanted to progress his career from as early as February.

Antony says that he had been offered a new deal by the Amsterdam club but that he told them he still wanted to leave and that the most recent bid was turned down due to how late it is in the transfer window. Speaking ahead of United's match at Southampton, Scholes told BT Sport that he understands why the 22-year-old wants to make the move.

"You expect him to want to leave Ajax and come to Manchester United, the manager’s done it, a couple of players have done it," Scholes explained. "You have to ignore the money these days, the money is ridiculous for every single player.

"He looks a talented player and we could all say it’s a little bit too much for him but the money’s too crazy and it’s stopping people from moving." The former United midfielder then added: "The only difference is Champions League football.

"Do you want to play Champions League football for Ajax who aren’t realistically going to win it? Or do you want to go to Manchester United and play Europa League football.

"It’s a no brainer for me. My worry is United look desperate."
