Paul Scholes and Gary Lineker are right about Sir Jim Ratcliffe worry at Manchester United
It’s been made pretty clear that any Manchester United turnaround under Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be more of a slow evolution than an instant revolution.
The 71-year-old has a depth of experience of running a football club with OGC Nice doing well in Ligue 1 this season, but he will find himself in a different situation at United. He will be a minority shareholder for the price of £1.3billion, although will assume sporting control.
The Glazers have made their thoughts clear about the football side of the club by handing over the sporting operational reins to Ratcliffe. However, he will still only have 25 per cent of the say in the boardroom.

It’s led some to question how much of an impact he will actually have. Ratcliffe can get to know Erik ten Hag and his staff with great closeness but if the Glazers say no to his yes, the American family still have the final say.
"I just find it difficult to believe that he’s going to be left to his own devices only owning 25 percent of the football club,” said Paul Scholes in November. “How are the Glazers not going to want a say at the top table when it comes to football decisions?
"Obviously you can draw up contracts, of course you can, but if stuff is then happening that they don’t like, you’re telling me they’re not going to come to the table and have something to say about it? I’m sure they will.
“I just find it bizarre. It’s obviously a stepping stone to him [Ratcliffe] taking over the club permanently, but how long that is going to be we don’t know. And how much time has he got to try and get things right?"
It’s a no-lose
