Paul Ince reveals reasons for Rangers love as England hero admits 'I don't know much about Celtic'

England and Manchester United legend Paul Ince has listed his reasons for preferring Rangers over Celtic.

The 56-year-old is a close friend of current Ibrox coach and Rangers-daft Alex Rae from their playing days together at Wolves and appointed him as his assistant at his various managerial roles, the latest being Reading.

Ince listed that has one of the reasons for his affection for the Light Blues and also the fact Paul Gascoigne starred at Ibrox during the 1990s when they both played for the England national team. And more recently, Ince was invited to take charge of a Legends side in a charity fixture for Fernando Ricksen during the Dutchman’s brutal six-year battle with MND, which he finally succumbed to four years ago.

Ince was a guest of Scots broadcaster Jim White on his talkSPORT show and he said: “I spent a lot of time Alex Rae and he was a mad, mad Rangers fan and it’s great see him now working at the club he loves. And when I go back to when Gazza was at Rangers they had such a good team.

“Also, I managed a charity team for Fernando Ricksen and I’ve just always had a soft spot for Rangers. It was horrendous what happened with Ricksen and I’m glad I played a part in it. But I’ve always had that Rangers kind of thing, Ally McCoist and all that. I don’t really know a lot about Celtic as a team. I know when John Barnes went there under Kenny Dalglish but Rangers have always been the team I actually like.”

However, fellow guest Karl Robinson, who succeeded Ince as MK Dons boss before stints in charge of Charlton and Oxford, said his affection is for the other half of the Old Firm.
