Paul Flynn: Mayo have work to do to sharpen attacking threat

Mayo will be on the road for the All-Ireland SFC preliminary quarter-final after finishing third in Group 1.

Kevin McStay's men were reeled in by Cork on Sunday, the Rebels firing in 1-06 without reply to achieve the three-point victory they needed to secure a home quarter.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Green and Red, who now look set for a tricky test no matter what way the draw goes. It will be held on RTÉ Radio 1's Morning Ireland on Monday morning after the 8.30am news.

Eight teams will be in the draw. Donegal, Kildare, Cork and Galway have home advantage after finishing second in their respective groups.

Analysing their shortcoming against Cork on The Sunday Game, Paul Flynn said: "We've known for a while now that Mayo have been struggle against a set defence.

"They knew themselves coming into today that they were going to be playing against a really organised defence with Cork.

"They're going to play against either Donegal, Kildare or Galway next week. Each of those teams are going to set up defensively so they haven't got time to figure this out. It'll be concerning for McStay. He's got a bit of work to do."
