Patrice Evra has revealed uncomfortable Champions League truth for Man City

Opinions from a Manchester United legend on the happenings at the Etihad Stadium will never be welcomed.

Manchester City have asserted their dominance over their rivals for coming up to a decade with the Blues flourishing while the Reds struggle to find their feet post-Ferguson. It is widely believed that former players like Patrice Evra should get their own house in order before casting judgement on Pep Guardiola's team.

For the most part this is correct. It is hard to justify any criticism aimed at City from any of the traditional 'big six', never mind from United supporting pundits.

However in his recent comments, Evra may have revealed an uncomfortable truth which the Blues may not want to address. The only blemish on Guardiola's record in Manchester to date has been the Champions League.

Last season felt like the opportunity to shake off the gremlin of European success but a freak comeback broke the hearts of those in Blue. One man who was there that day, lapping up the misery, was Evra.

Evra has now moved on from gloating at the misfortune of his rival and the Frenchman has now offered up an ultimatum which does ring true. "He (Haaland) is a monster," the left-back told Betfair.

"He is using his physique, he's a killer in front of goal, he does the right movements, he's sharp for someone tall and strong. He's like a cat.

"He got them back on track and that's why he's a number nine, and this is a real number nine. City were winning the league without a striker, but in the Champions League they struggled, now I feel like they have no excuse."
