Paris 2024: Irish in action on Day 9 of the Paralympics

After a quiet Day 8 where Para swimmer Róisín Ní Riain carried the Irish baton alone, a number of athletes are in action as the final weekend of the Games comes into view.

Para cycling makes up the bulk of the focus for Irish eyes with a busy schedule on the road.

Ronan Grimes is involved in the 99.4km men's C4-5 road race from 8.30am.

At midday, Damien Vereker - with pilot Mitchell McLaughlin - will compete in the 127.8km men’s B road race.

Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly claimed gold in the time trial on Wednesday and they’re back on their bikes for the women’s B road race. Josephine Healion and pilot Eve McCrystal are also in the starting list, with the action beginning at 12.10pm.

The Para equestrian team event also begins at 8.30am with Ireland scheduled to be the ninth team out.

They are represented by Michael Murphy, Jessica McKenna, Sarah Slattery and Kate Kerr-Horan.

There's more action from La Defense Arena as Barry McClements competes in the S9 100m butterfly heats at 9.18am. If he progresses to the final, which contains the eight fastest swimmers from the two heats, it will be at 5.35pm.

On the track, Aaron Shorten competes in the 1500m T20 final at 9.58am. The seven-athlete field contains world record holder Michael Brannigan of the USA.
