Paris 2024: Darragh gutted after narrow loss on Olympic debut
Rachael Darragh said she was left gutted after narrowly losing out to Switzerland's Jenjira Stadelmann on her Olympic Games debut.
The Donegal native had match point in the second set, after winning the first 21-13. However, Stadelmann, a European Games bronze medallist, survived before going on to win the set 24-22.
"I knew I was an underdog going into that game, she's a European Games bronze medallist, I knew I could throw everything at it and completely go for it," Darragh told RTÉ Sport.
"I had my chances in the second set, I had a set point there and I'm really gutted I didn't take that chance, but I'm also very proud of my performance," she added.
Stadelmann showed her experience in the final set and was able to overcome Darragh 21-15 to secure her first win of Group L.
