Paris 2024: Meadow improves but Maguire woes continue

Stephanie Meadow shot her best round of the week but Leona Maguire's struggles continued as she slumped to an 83 in today's third round of the women's golf tournament at Le Golf National.

Belfast woman Meadow carded a solid level-par round of 72 having opened with rounds of 78 and 74 to leave herself on eight-over-par overall.

Cavan's Maguire has had a difficult time on the testing Paris layout. Having shot 78 and 79 in rounds one and two respectively, she failed to break 80 today and sits on +24 overall, second from bottom of the leaderboard.

Switzerland's Morgane Metraux and New Zealander Lydia Ko share the lead on nine-under-par overall.

Metraux shot a round of 71 today while Ko added a 68 to her earlier rounds of 72 and 67 to head into the final round in prime position for a tilt at the gold medal.

Two shots behind the pair are America's Rose Zhang and Miyu Yamashita of Japan ho had 67 and 68 today, respectively.

Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand is in fifth place alone on six-under-par overall.
