"Paratici will look at him": Spurs can strike gold with "unplayable" £50k-p/w star - opinion

Tottenham Hotspur could be back in for Wolves star Adama Traore this summer according to football.london journalist Alasdair Gold.

During a Q&A for football.london, the journalist revealed: “I would imagine that Fabio Paratici will look at him again as he’s a big fan but I think, after an explosive first week or two, Traore has reverted to type at Barcelona and he’s struggled to get minutes outside the Europe League matches and when he has there have been no assists or goals.

“Dejan Kulusevski is a far, far better player for me and fits Conte’s system perfectly. The only thing Traore would bring at Tottenham is a different option from the bench with his pace and strength and he won’t be as expensive with just a year left on his deal, but he’s had yet another season of proving that his end product is very rarely there. I still think the idea of him as a wing-back is bizarre, and those who have seen his defending at Wolves tend to agree.”

Having looked at him considerably as a potential signing in the January transfer window, Spurs watched on as Barcelona came in and lured him back to his native Spain.

While things haven’t worked out so well in Catalunya – Traore has managed just two assists in nine La Liga games – a return to the Premier League with Spurs and Antonio Conte could be the change needed to spark him into life.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp once hailed him as “unplayable” following a previous performance against the Anfield side, while Rio Ferdinand has even described him as a “machine” and someone who’s “been scaring defenders”.
