Pair guilty of killing 'beautiful son' stabbed to death in Old Trafford

Two men have been found guilty of killing a ‘genuine and loving’ man who was stabbed to death. Salah Adam, 21, described as a ‘beautiful son’, was knifed in the neck following a row in Old Trafford.

Demari Rose, 20, was convicted of his murder, while Xavaiour Wynter, 21, was found guilty of manslaughter. Both were convicted by majority decision after jurors deliberated for more than 38 hours following a trial at Manchester Crown Court. Rose had admitted stabbing Mr Adam, but claimed he had been acting in self-defence.

Wynter, who was also armed, was accused of being the ‘driving force’ behind the killing, following an incident involving Mr Adam’s brother the day before. Rose and Wynter now face sentencing following the incident in May last year. Mr Adam’s loved ones described him as being the ‘backbone of the family’.

“He was our precious, beautiful son and a true hero,” they said. “He was a supportive brother and precious son, a most genuine and loving soul with a big heart. He always found space in his heart to forgive all.

His mother said: “I have no words to describe the depth of my pain, grief and sorrow that I am going through, and I wish no mother must experience the layers of sadness and grief that I and Salah’s siblings and family are going through.”

Prosecutors said the killing, on May 31 last year, came after a ‘precursor event’ the day before. About 15 young men, including Mr Adam’s younger brother, Mohammad Adam, had been arrested on suspicion of affray after police received ‘numerous’ reports of men being seen wearing balaclavas and in possession of weapons in Hulme.
