Manchester United's £50million defender close to sealing exit from Old Trafford

Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka's transfer to West Ham could be announced on Tuesday.

Club sources indicated it was within the balance whether Wan-Bissaka's move to London would be completed on Monday but confirmed the deal was progressing.

West Ham are set to sign Wan-Bissaka in a deal worth £15million and his imminent departure is allowing United to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.

The one-year extension in Wan-Bissaka's contract was triggered in January and United were always open to selling the right-back to recoup a fee for his signature. The 26-year-old has spent five years in Manchester and will leave having won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup with United.

United signed Wan-Bissaka for £50m from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2019 but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pushed to sign Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid two years later.

Wan-Bissaka eventually lost his starting role to Diogo Dalot, but the break for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar provided him with a lifeline and he fought his way back into the team.

By the end of Erik ten Hag's first season, Wan-Bissaka had enjoyed a renaissance and was the first-choice right-back again, although his battle with Dalot continued in 2023/24.

Sky has slashed the price of its Sky Sports, Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix bundle in an unbeatable new deal that saves £216 and includes 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

With Ultra HD included at no extra cost, football fans can enjoy the 2024/25 season with crystal clear picture quality.
