Owners want to restore historic bank in Sale to its former glory

The owners of a historic former bank in the heart of Sale have applied for permission to restore its upper floors to their former glory.

Plans to renovate the first and second floors of the Grade II-listed building once occupied by Lloyds Bank on the corner of School Road and Tatton Road have been submitted to Trafford council’s planning portal. Most recently, the building, dating back to 1902, was the home of a law firm and the ground floor is now a Gail’s Bakery outlet, which launched in November.

The building is owned by TIC Group Ltd, a Sale-based family run property company which manages residential and commercial premises across Greater Manchester.

Two of its directors are Thomas and Max Sillito. Thomas said: “Our aim is to preserve everything that’s there. We want to restore the original, historic features to create serviced offices. We want to make it modern meets old. ”

Max added: “We want to return it to its original glory. It’s fascinating when you see the layout of the offices as they are, because it’s very much as it was when it was Lloyds Bank. And you can tell which office was the bank manager’s, because it’s biggest.

“There’s a lot of wood panelling that’s been painted over, and we want to bring it back to how it was.”
