Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank told 'no way' as he surprises with soap role before cobbles

Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank wasn't always a familiar face on the cobbles and fans have been left surprised to re-discover his stint in Albert Square.

The actor is best known for playing Billy Mayhew in the ITV soap and at the end of last year, he marked a decade in the role. The character first appeared after his met Sean Tully and they had a two-year relationship before Billy left Sean for Todd Grimshaw.

Soon after, Billy and Todd's guardianship of Summer Spellman came about in 2017 when Summer's adoptive father Drew Spellman, Billy's ex, asked them in his dying months to take her on. But Todd disappeared in 2018 while Billy remained in Weatherfield with Summer, living at 19a Rosamund Street.

Finally getting over Todd, Billy ended up in a two-year relationship with Paul Foreman which ended when Todd - and his scheming ways, returned and enacted a campaign to split the couple up. The pair were due to get married after Todd popped the question but in typical Corrie fashion, Todd's lies were exposed and Billy had his heartbroken all over again.

They later made up for Summer's sake and Corrie fans have seen the pair remain close as Billy's romance with Paul reignited and the pair ended up marrying, before Paul's tragic death earlier this year just 17 months after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

But before Billy ever arrived in Weatherfield, Daniel wasn't far from the soap bubble as he made appearances in both Emmerdale and EastEnders.

When he joined Corrie in his fifth soap role, he told the Metro. "In Emmerdale I was a bisexual Geordie bin man and in EastEnders I played someone connected to the Mitchells – they thought I was Billy Mitchell’s long-lost son. I also did a soap in Ireland called Fair
