Owner of 'iconic' Korean restaurant announces closure amid search for new venue

The owner of a popular Korean restaurant in south Manchester has announced she will shortly have to close. The Thirsty Korean in Chorlton has long been hailed a "hidden gem" and "iconic" by diners and is based in a quirky site on Manchester Road.

Now, Thirsty Korean's owner Eunji Noh has announced she is to close her restaurant by the end of March. She said the decision is due to the end of the lease for the venue.

Eunji has urged customers to help her make it a "cheerful end" to her time in Chorlton in the ramining weeks she is open.

Eunji announced the news in an emotional instagram post, starting by saying: "Dear thirsty and hungry people, I am madly sorry to share the announcement that we are going to close the venue on Manchester Road by the end of March this year due to end of the lease.

"I have not decided yet where and when the next journey will begin. Most likely it will be the end of this year, it also depends on the new venue, how soon I will find and get a contract with."

She continued by telling followers: "It will be the long goodbye but hopefully it will be a new start of us in the future, with heavy mind and thoughts I am here to share the news of Thirsty Korean permanent closure on the Manchester Road venue.

"Five years of running business since 2019, it has never been easy but I had lots of fun and great memories with you all lovely people.
