Oulton BSB: Double Supersport win for Kennedy

Jack Kennedy’s early season dominance of the Quattro British Supersport Championship continued at Oulton Park on Monday afternoon with the Mar-Train Racing Yamaha rider making it four wins from four starts.

He saw off the early challenge of Lee Johnston (Ashcourt Racing Yamaha) to eventually win by more than eight seconds to maintain his 100% start to the season and he now leads the championship standings by 24 points. Bradley Perie (Appleyard Macadam Yamaha) finished third. Johnston grabbed the holeshot from Kennedy and Perie with Harry Truelove on the second Appleyard machine slotting in behind them in fourth but Kennedy had found a way by Johnston by the time they crossed the line to complete the opening lap. At the start of lap three, Kennedy’s lead over Johnston was three tenths of a second with Perie already 1.5s adrift and Truelove now battling with Luke Stapleford (Gearlink Kawasaki) for fourth. Stapleford’s team-mate Zak Corderoy was disputing sixth with fellow Kawasaki runner Eugene McManus (Completely Motorbikes/Affinity Kawasaki). Two laps later, the leading two riders were still well clear of the rest of the field, Kennedy’s lead having now crept up to half a second and with Perie and Truelove circulating on their own in third and fourth respectively, a lot of attention fell on the battle for fifth between Stapleford, Corderoy, McManus and the Ducati of Luke Jones. The latter came to grief at Shell Oils Corner on lap seven, the same lap seeing Jamie Perrin pull in to retire but there were no such issues at the head of the pack although with gap remaining constant at half a second, Johnston was continuing to keep the pressure on Kennedy.
