Opinion: Celtic boss seems happy with current contract situation

Whilst there has been constant speculation about the future of current Celtic players, and speculation about players that the club might seen, it has been quiet about the future of Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.

It was reported by the Daily Record over a month ago that the Hoops were going to offer the manager a long-term contract after a hugely successful first season in charge at Celtic Park.

However, at the time of writing, the Hoops boss is still on the one-year rolling contract that he signed when he joined the Bhoys. That doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about though, as the Celtic manager seems to be satisfied with his current contract situation.

Postecoglou’s contract situation doesn’t seem to be preventing him from getting on with his job, as Cameron Carter-Vickers’ permanent contract was recently signed, and perhaps even more significantly, Harry Kewell joined the club as a first-team coach.

That is a big deal as Postecoglou didn’t bring any coaches with him to the club when he joined the Hoops in the first place. Now he is making more of a mark at Celtic by starting to install his own men at the club, which shows how much power he currently has at Celtic Park.

With that in mind, Postecoglou might feel that there is no need for him to sign a long-term deal at Celtic, as he has shown that he is committed to the club despite only having a rolling contract.

Rolling contracts have been the norm for Celtic managers in recent years, the only time a manager was given an extended deal was when Brendan Rodgers signed a long-term deal after his first season at the club, and he ended up leaving less than two years later.
