On-loan Ramsgate goalkeeper Dillon Addai extends stay from League 2 leaders Bromley until conclusion of this season; Rams secure 3-0 home Isthmian Premier win over Lewes at weekend
On-loan goalkeeper Dillon Addai will remain at Ramsgate for the rest of this season.
Addai joined from League 2 leaders Bromley on an initial 28-day loan, having had a similar spell at National League South side Chelmsford earlier in the campaign.
The 20-year-old former Millwall and Leicester youth-team player kept a second shut-out in four matches for Ramsgate in their 3-0 Isthmian Premier home win over Lewes on Saturday, the highlight of which was a fine fingertip save to deny forward Kaan Bennett.
“One thing we haven’t had a lot of is clean sheets,” said manager Lee Martin, talking after extending Addai’s loan stay. “That’s why I took on Dillon.
“He’s a fantastic goalie, he’s a bit nutty - all keepers are - but I always said, if he was our No.1, he would deliver for us. He was quiet on Saturday but did well in the key moment.
“They had a chance to get back into the game, which is going right into the top corner, and he’s there to pick it out. That’s why we signed him.
“I think Logan Dobbs will come into contention soon, as well. He’s a leader of men - albeit still very young.
“But at the moment, Ian Gayle, Raphe Brown and Henry Lukombo are doing very well. They’re keeping Logan out.
“They’re all giving everything, which is creating real competition for places, and that’s all you can ask for.”
The Rams were already in front by the time Addai made that vital save, captain TJ Jadama on target in the first minute, before forward Kweku Lucan added a second and he was also involved in setting up substitute Mitchell May for their third at Southwood on 69 minutes.
Martin reflected: “It was a convincing win.
“I’m a little bit disappointed we didn’t manage to take more opportunities we created but, if that’s the only concern,
