Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua 2: Dillian Whyte reveals the only way AJ can beat Usyk

Anthony Joshua must ‘rediscover that aggression’ he showed against Dillian Whyte six years ago to stand any chance of beating Oleksandr Usyk.

That’s according to Whyte himself, who insists that AJ needs to rekindle the fire within him if he wants to regain his belts.

The Body Snatcher came up short in his sole title fight five months ago at Wembley Stadium, suffering a devastating sixth-round knockout loss to the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

And despite the lingering animosity between them, he has offered some sound words of advice to his arch rival.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “It’s a massive fight, the biggest fight of his career.

“I do expect him to bounce back, he’s a British fighter like me and I only support our own, so I do hope he gets the job done.

“It’s good for me if he wins as well.

“I can understand that [rediscovering his aggressive side], because I’m of the same mindset as well. In my last fight [against Tyson Fury] I wasn’t as aggressive as I normally am, I’ve said the same thing to myself, I need to rediscover that aggression.

“I think it’s the right mindset he needs going into the fight, it’s the only way he wins the fight.”

Whyte acknowledged that Joshua has appointed Robert Garcia as his new head coach – but said that ultimately it’s all down to him at the end of the day.

He added: “I honestly don’t think that will make much of a difference. He’s the one that needs to make the decision, be dirty and be nasty.
