Rangers set for Glen Kamara transfer windfall in a different way as Goldson 'offer' goes beyond football

Rangers missed out on a cash windfall when Glen Kamara's Leeds United blew their chance of promotion to the English Premier League - but the Ibrox club's coffers could STILL be boosted by the Finn.

The Light Blues were due a £500,000 payment if the Yorkshire outfit had returned to the top flight thanks to a clause written into the midfielder's deal when he moved Rangers to Elland Road for £5million last summer.

But reports in France say Ligue 1 outfit Rennes are keen on Kamara and that could see Rangers bank cash with a sell-on clause also written into the deal that saw him move south. Rennes are on the hunt for a midfielder as they are braced for losing Enzo Le Fee to Roma while Switzerland Euro 2024 star Fabian Rieder has joined Stuttgart on loan.

Kamara was linked with a £10m move to France during his Rangers days with Nice big admirers but the transfer to the Allianz Riviera fell through. While Kamara could be leaving England, his former Ibrox team-mate Connor Goldson could be returning south of the border with Birmingham City said to be interested in him.

And one temptation for the 32-year-old could be the chance to return to his roots with the defender from the Midlands - just 16 miles away in Wolverhampton.

Ex Celtic assistant boss Chris Davies is in charge at St Andrew's and looking to get the Blues back into the English Championship at the first time of asking following relegation to League One last season. The Scottish Sun report that Davies is desperate for experience and has targeted Goldson who still has two years left on his contract.
