Temitayo Olufisayo Olaoluwa Aina, commonly known as Ola Aina, emerged on Tuesday as Nottingham Forest’s Player of the Month for September 2023.

Aina has thus made it a back-to-back triumph for Nigeria after the defender followed in the footsteps of compatriot Taiwo Awoniyi, who won in August.

“Ola Aina has been voted as Forest’s Player of the Month for September,” the English Premier League club wrote on its official website.

The 26-year-old has made a positive impression since joining Forest on a free transfer following his departure from Torino, featuring five times in the current Premier League campaign.

Capable of playing on either flank, the versatile full-back has operated on both the left and right side of defence so far this season, producing a string of solid displays.

“It’s because of this that Aina has been voted by Forest supporters as Player of the Month for September, receiving 40% of the total vote. Thank you to everyone who voted,” Forest wrote.

Meanwhile, Aina is currently out on the sidelines with muscle injuries which caused him to miss Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Brentford in a Premier League game at the City Ground.

“Ola (Aina) is out with muscle injuries,” disclosed Forest manager Steve Cooper, who also said that a return date is unknown.

The defender will miss the Super Eagles friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique, scheduled to take place later this month, due to the injury.
