'Oasis aren't getting back together for the money', Richard Osman insists

Oasis fans finally got the news that they'd been waiting for last week as the feuding brothers called a truce and announced that they would be reuniting.

With their 17 date tour across the UK already sold out, many have suggested that Noel and Liam Gallagher simply want a quick pay day, but the former Pointless co-presenter, Richard Osman thinks there's another explanation.

Talking about the rock-star brother's decision on the 'Rest is Entertainment' podcast, Richard said: "I think the reason they're going back on tour, genuinely, is because they want to be back in the conversation. They had this incredible run in the 90s.

"They were so beyond huge, there were four or five years of it when everyone wanted to see them, to be them, to meet them, every single they said was reported. And that doesn't happen anymore to them."

With some Oasis fans expecting the band to dominate the UK charts after their shock announcement last week, only 'What's The Story Morning Glory' and 'Definitely Maybe' finished in the top 10, ending the week in fourth and fifth.

But Richard was less shocked by the bands underwhelming placings, adding: "When we think of Oasis, we think of those two albums, it's the truth, that's what we're thinking of. We're thinking of a very particular point in time, we're thinking of a very small group of songs."

Richard also mused that 'everything beyond' those two albums 'we're not really interested in'.

Tickets for the highly sought after gigs were snapped up quickly last weekend (Saturday, August 31) with tickets for all 17 tour dates now sold out.

Oasis will be playing in Cardiff, Wales, Manchester, London’s Wembley Stadium, Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and Croke Park, Dublin.
