Number of Bolton Wanderers summer signings pinpointed as transfer target set by Ian Evatt

Ian Evatt believes Bolton Wanderers will prioritise quality over quantity this summer in the transfer market but has not ruled out the possiblility of replicating the numbers brought in during previous windows to make the squad ready for a promotion challenge next season.

Wanderers are poised for a top 10 finish in their first campaign back in League One after achieving automatic promotion to the division in the 2020/21 campaign.

Though they could finish with a total of 73 points if they beat Fleetwood Town in their final game of the campaign this Saturday, Wanderers could finish some 10 points from the play-offs. Challenging for the top six at least has been set as the target for next season.

A big factor which well help Wanderers reach that and make the next step is their recruitment this summer. Work is well under way on that front to reinforce the squad and build on the signings made in previous windows.

Wanderers made a total of nine signings in total last summer, bringing in Josh Sheehan, Amadou Bakayoko, Dapo Afolayan, Declan John, Will Aimson, Joel Dixon, George Johnston and Elias Kachunga on permanent deals, as well as Xavier Amaechi on loan.

A further seven signings were made in January with Marlon Fossey and James Trafford joining on loan from Fulham and Manchester City respectively. Dion Charles, Aaron Morley, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Kieran Sadlier and Kyle Dempsey all arrived on permanent deals.

Evatt is happy with the layers he now has to his squad and the direction is now to add further to that, with quality over quantity being signed.
