Manchester United transfer news LIVE Fred and Marcus Rashford latest plus Erik ten Hag updates

Manchester United will today step up their preparations for Thursday's Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Following Saturday's defeat to Arsenal, United don't have much left to play for this season with their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League all but extinguished after slipping six points behind the Gunners in fourth place.

Now Ralf Rangnick will just hope that his side doesn't fall to a third heavy defeat to a great rival in succession following on from last week's 4-0 hammering by Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford will aim to seek clarity on his role at the club when Erik ten Hag takes charge this summer.

Stay tuned for the latest United news throughout the day.

The Toffees won that match with the Brazilian off the field and there have been a further two losses in the three games he has missed since, to Liverpool and Arsenal.

Even the match United did manage to win without Fred, against rock bottom Norwich City, they only did so by the skin of their teeth after having thrown away a two-goal advantage. It's clear how much Ralf Rangnick has missed him in his midfield and the German will hope Fred will be able to play a part in the final four matches of the campaign.
