Nottingham Forest 'to bid' for Championship star who impressed in play-offs

Nottingham Forest will soon make a bid for Huddersfield Town left-back Harry Toffolo, according to a report.

The left-back was a key player for Huddersfield in the Championship last season as they reached the play-off final against Forest. The Terries triggered a one-year contract extension to avoid losing him on a free this summer, with the Reds now poised to make a bid.

That is according to The Athletic, who say Toffolo is being eyed for the left wing-back role at Forest as head coach Steve Cooper wants two natural players for each position. Toffolo is said to be "happy" at Huddersfield but wants to prove himself in the Premier League and could now be about to do so with Forest.

The 26-year-old made 45 appearances in the Championship last season and was key to his side reaching the play-off final. He has progressed well over the last few years, impressing at Lincoln City before comfortably making the move up to the second tier.

Liverpool's Neco Williams being lined up for the right wing-back role, with Forest reportedly set to try their luck with a second bid. It is said that their first, £11m plus £4m in add-ons, was rejected. Fulham, who took Williams on loan last season and were impressed by him, will not be pursuing a permanent deal.
