Nottingham Forest receive exciting double message after completing Taiwo Awoniyi transfer

Two of Taiwo Awoniyi's main attributes have been highlighted as reasons as to why he will be a success at Nottingham Forest.

The 24 year-old completed a club record transfer to Forest on Saturday after the Reds triggered his release clause at Union Berlin. Steve Cooper has been searching for a forward to lead Forest's front-line following their promotion to the Premier League.

Before Awoniyi's arrival the Reds' only contracted senior strikers were Lyle Taylor and Sam Surridge. Now, they have added a talismanic stiker who has proved their worth in the Bundesliga. His tally of 15 goals and two assists in 31 league appearances - his best season in-front of goal - helped Union finish fifth in the German top-tier, qualifying for the Europa League.

The Nigeria international started his professional career with Liverpool but was loaned out to six different clubs due to work permit issues. His final loan club, Union, turned his temporary move permanent last July.

Forest fans have already seemingly taken to the young striker, but Andy Brassell, a European football expert, has provided an insight into what Reds can expect from the frontman.

He said: "Awoniyi has been terrific for Union over the past few seasons, particularly last season. He's their top-scorer of all-time in the top-flight, admittedly a fairly small time as they've only been up for three seasons. But you look at his strength and his variety of goals, he is someone who can create his own shot and pick up the pieces too.

"What really impressed me about him is his very creative strike partner who made a lot for him, Max Kruse, moved on and went back to Wolfsburg in January, but Awoniyi took centre stage and was happy to take responsibility for the attack. I think
