Nottingham Forest fans fire off Bournemouth warning after Swansea City demolition

Nottingham Forest fans were predictably over the moon with the performance of their side on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds overcame Swansea City 5-1 at the City Ground to set up a mouthwatering promotion battle with Bournemouth on Tuesday. Just three points separate the sides in the Championship table with two games remaining.

Forest opened the scoring in bizarre circumstances when Cyrus Christie scored an own goal against his old team. The referee had initially given the full-back a red card for handling the ball, but it had gone over the line before being stopped.

Michael Obafemi equalised for the Swans soon after, but after half-time it was all Forest. Sam Surridge put Steve Cooper's side back in the lead just a few minutes after the break.

The ex-Swansea City striker went on to get the first hat-trick of his career before Alex Mighten scored a fifth for the Reds late on. It's the most goals the side have scored in a single game all season.

Alongside Bournemouth's 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers, the midweek clash with the Cherries is set up perfectly with automatic promotion on the line. Forest fans took to Twitter after the final whistle to send their rivals a warning:

We're coming for you Bournemouth, 2nd place will be ours!

Absolutely massive. Beat Bournemouth next week & we'll win automatic promotion to the Premier League.

32yrs and 1 day I've been supporting this beautiful club through thick and thin, good and bad times. we've got a massive 7 days now. pressure is on them, they're the prey and we're the hunters.

Can’t wait for Tuesday, what a game that’ll be, then Hull on the back of a 5-0 drubbing!

Great result. MASSIVE game on Tuesday! After where we’ve come from it’s a crazy free hit at the Premiership!
