"Not many people expected..." - Journalist makes exciting Celtic claim about Ange Postecoglou

“Not many people” expected Celtic to win the Scottish Premiership title this season, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Ange Postecoglou’s side aren’t over the line just yet, but the Glasgow giants require just 10 points from their final five fixtures to secure a 52nd top-flight crown.

Remarkably, with their goal difference far superior to Rangers’, victory at Ross County this afternoon and a third Scottish Premiership Old Firm win on the bounce next Sunday could all-but seal the title at the home of their greatest rivals.

Despite losing in extra-time in last weekend’s Scottish FA Cup semi-final, Postecoglou has done a fine job in getting the better of a Rangers outfit that went unbeaten last term and are in the last four of the Europa League.

It’s been a far from straightforward journey for Postecoglou’s men, though. Not only did they lose three of their first six league fixtures this season, but they went into the winter break still trailing Rangers by six points.

However, a 27-match unbeaten run, in which Celtic have taken 73 points from a possible 81 available has seen them turn a six point gap into a six point lead, has left them on course for a second piece of silverware this season following their League Cup success before Christmas.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “They’re six points ahead with five games to go, so it’s in their hands.

“If they win four of those games, they’re guaranteed to be champions, which not many people expected at the start of the season with all the upheaval going on at Celtic Park.

“But full credit to Ange Postecoglou and the players, who have really turned things on and got Celtic back to where they feel they belong.”
