'Not afraid' - Bolton Wanderers midfielder sends Aston Villa warning ahead of Carabao Cup clash

MJ Williams believes Bolton Wanderers fancy themselves against anyone at home and has vowed they will not be afraid of taking on Aston Villa as they try and impose their own game on the top flight side this evening.

The Whites host the Villans at the University of Bolton Stadium with the aim of producing an upset and dumping the Premier League side out of the contest. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.

Like Bolton, Villa go into the game on the back of a defeat. Gerrard's side suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday, which leaves them 13th in the Premier League table.

Williams is looking forward to the encounter against the top flight outfit. He is well aware of the squad Steven Gerrard has at his disposal and the challenge that poses Wanderers.

But he has vowed that Wanderers fancy themselves against anyone at the UniBol and will not be afraid of taking on the Premier League side. However, Williams says that the League One outfit will try and play their normal game as much as they can against the Villans.

He said: “If you are in the Aston Villa squad you are a top player. You are at a top Premier League team. So whatever team they put out tomorrow night you have to be ready for the challenge.

“We want to progress and have a cup run. There’s nothing to lose for us so we’ll do everything we can to get a win.

"If we do win, it’ll be remembered and whoever scores for us, their name will be remembered, so we’ve just got to go out there with confidence, not worry too much about what could happen. We’ve just got to play our own game, focus on ourselves and be ready for the challenge.
