Manchester United transfer news LIVE Liverpool FC victory reaction and Antony updates

Manchester United recorded their first victory of the season on Monday evening, beating arch-rivals Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Goals either side of the half-time interval from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford fired United into a two-goal lead before Mohamed Salah reduced the deficit late on with a close-range header. United were full value for the victory, producing their best performance in several months to secure their first win of the Erik ten Hag era.

It capped off a successful evening for the club, as the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro was confirmed just ahead of kick-off, meaning the Brazilian was presented to the Old Trafford faithful. He has become the club's fourth signing of the summer transfer window, following the earlier arrivals of Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen.

United, however, are still on the hunt for more arrivals ahead of the transfer window closing in just over a week's time. Ten Hag remains keen to strengthen his attacking options and reports connecting Ajax ace Antony with a move to M16 continue to gather significant pace.

The Reds have been on the hunt for a new right-sided winger for much of the summer and links with the Ajax star have resurfaced over the past week or so.
