Norwich City full-back Bali Mumba set to join Plymouth Argyle on loan

Plymouth Argyle could be set to complete a third signing of the summer, according to report. Norwich City full-back Bali Mumba is close to joining the Pilgrims.

The 20-year-old, who can play on either side of the pitch, spent the second half of 2022-23 at Peterborough United. He made 13 appearances for the Posh, but couldn't stop them sliding to relegation and was sent back to his parent club before the end of the season.

Mumba had featured three times for the Canaries before his loan move. He made his Premier League debut as a second half substitute in a 5-0 defeat to Manchester City, and also started against Bournemouth and Liverpool in the EFL Cup

But the former Sunderland prospect currently finds himself behind Sam Byram and Max Aarons in the pecking order on his favoured right side. Sam McCallum and Dimitris Giannoulis on the left side where he's deputised previously are also ahead of him in the queue.

Mumba has been strongly linked with a move to the Pilgrims. It is thought that he would join on a season-long loan.

Boss Dean Smith recently said: "The squad will need trimming. We've got 10 players coming back from international duty, so to carry that many going into the season is too many.

"But we want to give all the players the opportunity to start with. Will make the decision then on who we need to keep and who we need to move on."

If the 20-year-old was to join Argyle, he would be Steven Schumacher’s third signing of the summer, following the arrival of Matt Butcher and Mickel Miller.
