Norway resist Canada fightback to book place in World Curling Championships final

Norway set up a final with holders Switzerland after withstanding a fightback from Canada at the World Women's Curling Championships. The lead changed hands several times before a dominant ninth end secured Norway a place in the showpiece.

Ad Switzerland were clinical as they reached their fourth straight final, defeating hosts Sweden 8-4. CurlingHighlights: Switzerland beat out hosts Sweden to reach women's final2 HOURS AGO With three ends to go, Marianne Roervik's Norwegian rink were 5-4 up before Canada drew level in the eighth end.

Norway had the hammer in the ninth end, and they used it to their advantage, scoring three points in one end for the second time in the match before Canada ran out of stones in the tenth. Sweden suffered the same fate in their defeat to unbeaten Switzerland, although the nine-time world champions had already built a commanding lead by the time of the ninth end.

The two sides could not be separated at 2-2 at the halfway mark, before vice-skip Alina Paetz produced a double take-out in the ninth end to move her side to 8-4 and to seal the win. Sweden and Canada will square off for bronze, just as they did in Prince George last year, tomorrow morning before Norway look to secure a first title since 1991 against defending champions Switzerland.
