"No one deserves that" - Shock on estate where boy, 16, injured in acid attack

People living on a housing estate where a teenage boy was targeted in an 'acid attack' have spoken of their shock.

The 16-year-old was attacked with a 'corrosive substance', suspected to be acid, in Vaudrey Road, Woodley, Stockport, at about 10pm on Sunday(March 24).

He was taken to hospital for treatment and his condition is described as 'stable and not life-threatening'. Detectives believe the attack was 'targeted' and say there is no threat to the wider public.

Following the incident, police cars, fire engines and ambulances descended on nearby Braddon Road. Neighbours living on the street said they heard a 'commotion' and looked outside to find it taped off.

A police cordon was in place outside a semi-detached property on the street, they added.

Biatuh Drammeh, who lives in Braddon Road, said: "I looked from the window and all I could see was an ambulance and it looked like a boy with a bandage on his face. There were a lot of police cars and the road was closed."

Another neighbour added: "I could see the blue flashing lights outside. There were fire engines and police cars.

"It just happened all at once. I knew it was something serious."

The woman said she was 'disgusted' when she later discovered what had happened.

"It's very scary. It's a good community - a lot of people have lived here a long time"

Other neighbours on the residential street spoke of their 'shock' over the incident.

"It's tragic," said one woman. "It's a shame for the lad, no one deserves that. It's absolutely gutting. I just feel so sorry for him."

"It's terrible," said another resident. "You never think something like that is going to happen around
