Fiona Murtagh and Aifris Keogh take World Cup silver in Italy

Irish crews picked up two medals at the World Cup rowing event in Italy on Sunday morning.

Fiona Murtagh and Aifric Keogh produced the best performance of the day, winning silver in the women's pair final on Lago di Varese.

Just before that, Philip Doyle and Daire Lynch took bronze in the men's double.

The women's four crew of Emily Hegarty, Natalie Long, Eimear Lambe and Imogen Magner had to settle for fourth, with Sanita Puspure coming home in fifth in the women's single.

Earlier in the morning Ireland claimed two victories in B finals.

In the men's pair Nathan Timoney and Ross Corrigan, who missed out on their A final by just over three seconds on Saturday, took the win ahead of Sweden, Italy and two German crews.

Konan Pazzaia then triumphed in the men's single B final, prevailing over rivals from Portugal, Ukraine, Brazil, Spain and Switzerland.

The men's four of John Kearney, Andrew Sheehan, Jack Dorney and Ronan Byrne finished third in the B final.
