Nigeria manager makes Manchester United transfer claim about Victor Osimhen
Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro believes Victor Osimhen has what it takes to lead the line for Manchester United.
A bizarre row emerged in midweek when Napoli’s media team released several videos appearing to mock their £120million-rated striker. One clip poked fun at Osimhen missing a penalty and the striker subsequently removed all posts relating to his club from his Instagram.
Rumours have since intensified linking Osimhen - who helped Napoli to a historic Serie A title last season - with a move away. He featured for Gli Azzurri from the bench on Saturday, coming on at half-time to bag the second in a 4-0 win over Leece.

Napoli boss Rudi Garcia confirmed the move was tactical ahead of their Champions League showdown against Real Madrid on Tuesday. The Manchester Evening News reported in February that Osimhen was high on Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag's summer wishlist although it remains to be seen whether they will return to the Nigerian following the summer arrival of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.
But Osimhen's national team boss has backed the forward to do a job for United, should they come calling next year. Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, Osimhen’s national team coach, Peseiro, listed the La Liga giants alongside United when asked whether the striker could play for Europe’s elite.
“He is a star, because of his ability to score goals, to fight, to press. A player who is very strong offensively. The pressure it puts on the defenders is a lot. He has vigour, aggressiveness, speed and power and he has a goal. He is crazy about scoring goals.
