Nicky Cadden relishing Hibs link-up with twin brother Chris as Leith side aim for Celtic revenge

It's difficult to gauge what Nicky Cadden is most pleased about since joining Hibs.

A return home to Scottish football’s top flight after four years in England? The opportunity to achieve a rare feat by playing alongside his twin brother Chris? Or the fact his parents can finally ditch their second TV? It might be the latter. But, either way, the winger can’t wait to get going at Easter Road. After arriving from Barnsley, the 27-year-old is available for selection for today’s Premier Sports Cup clash with Celtic at Parkhead. Cadden left Morton for Forest Green Rovers in 2020 before flourishing in his time at Oakwell.

But the chance to play with his sibling in Leith was an open goal he wasn’t going to miss. Nicky and Chris were last together at Motherwell as kids before he was released and joined Airdrie. He’s back home with his family and it finally means that mum Avril and dad Steve can either watch them in the flesh together – or at least on one TV screen.

Cadden said: “Playing with Chrissy is always something we wanted to do when we were growing up. Not a lot of people get to do that in this profession.

“So to play first-team football with my twin will be good. I can’t wait. We only ever played against each other once (Motherwell v Livingston) and it was a weird feeling.

“We’d been together at Motherwell and my dad was a coach there. I remember the day we both went into the office and only one of us came out with a contract.

“That was hard and it’s weird that we’ve taken different paths and ended up in the same place! I had offers from down south but I could ask my brother how it is at Hibs.
