Nick Montgomery won't switch Hibs style up on the mic as he busts a myth around access all areas content

Nick Montgomery insists a microphone won't change him one bit as he attempts to boldly showcase Scottish football.

The Hibs gaffer is adamant his style won’t be altered during the Edinburgh Derby despite TV fans being able to hear his every comment and conversation. Sky Sports have an agreement with Montgomery to air him live during the clash with Hearts. The Leith gaffer has revealed it’s not the first time he’s done it having been involved with it during his time in Australia.

Montgomery is clear it doesn’t change his approach and is delighted to give fans at home a key insight into how things unfold in the technical area during a massive match. He said: “The important thing is to be yourself. I’ll definitely be myself and I’m sure the staff will be no different. There was documentary stuff in the A-League that I was involved in. That involved being mic’d up.

“Sometimes you forget you’ve got the microphone on and obviously it’s a passionate game. This is a showpiece game for Scottish football, We’re almost in 2024 now and this is the way sport is going around the world.

“I think if it’s something that Sky Sports and the league want to do, if it promotes Scottish football, that’s great. Look around the world, even down south to the Premier League, there is a lot more interactive stuff going on, more documentaries where the cameras get all access.

“Teams like Arsenal and Manchester City have let the fans see behind the scenes. I’ve been involved in situations like this before and I can honestly say it doesn’t affect the game.”

Hearts counterpart Steven Naismith was also approached about doing the same thing during the clash, but the Tynecastle manager opted against it. Montgomery added: "I can only comment on myself.
