Next Pep Guardiola job lined up as Man City work towards contract extension

Brazilian great Ronaldo Nazario is reportedly attempting to become head of his country's football federation, after which he intends to install Manchester City's Pep Guardiola as the national team manager.

Man City are well aware their first-team coach will have plenty of job offers on the table should they fail to come to an agreement to extend his contract beyond the end of the season. Talks have been ongoing behind the scenes.

Guardiola being such a sought-after candidate for numerous roles is just the reward - or alternatively from Man City's perspective, the cost - of winning 18 trophies in almost nine years with the club.

Etihad Stadium chiefs will be hoping that the 53-year-old decides to extend his stay into a 10th year, or perhaps even beyond that, however the temptation of a move away in the long run seems to increase day-by-day.

The latest rumour to surface from Brazilian outlet lance! states that Ronaldo - not Cristiano Ronaldo, but the original Brazilian variant - has devised a plan to see the Man City boss walk into his next job as the South American country's manager.

Ronaldo first is claimed to be planning to run for the presidency of the Brazilian Football Confederation. Current leader Ednaldo Rodrigues' term will expire in March 2026, he will run for re-election in next year's votes but will face competition from the 2002 World Cup winner.

If he can fulfil the various criteria to first challenge for the presidency, then win the election, it is then Ronaldo's hope that he can reunite with former Barcelona team-mate Guardiola and work together to rediscover Brazil's forgotten status on the world stage.
