Newcastle United: When did these 15 Magpies icons finally leave St. James' Park?
Despite their recent struggles in the Premier League, Newcastle United once had players that were a force to be reckoned with in England’s top division.
The Magpies have been an established Premier League club for some time now, and have a rich history in domestic competition.
Despite their last league title coming in 1927, the Magpies were English champions four times previously. On top of that, they are six-time FA Cup winners – with their last coming in 1955.
This early success has helped shape them into a well-known club, which has attract many exciting and gifted players over the years.
Alan Shearer, their all-time top goalscorer with 206 strikes, spent 10 years with Newcastle and finished his career at St. James’ Park.
Other icons to have featured prominently for the Magpies include Kevin Keegan, Peter Beardsley, Jackie Milburn and David Ginola, who all eventually left the club to pursue other opportunities or hang up their boots.
